These aren’t disparities,
Our differences
Are simply the tributaries
To the Great River
Of our common purposes;
Race, ethnicity
Islam, Christianity
Blind us from our true essence
That humanity grows from our connectedness
From experiencing each other
Having a brother from another mother
A neighbor turned lover;
Black defines
Absence of all prejudice
White shows
The color oneness;
You can’t walk alone
And be an achiever
You have to stand on another’s shoulders
To see clearer
The hereafter.
