Is Your Job Destroying Your Career and Killing your Calling? by Mercie Poetess

How many hours do you work each day? 8, 10,12 hours a day? How many of these hours are actually productive at work? How many of these hours are fruitful? How many of these hours do you develop or create solutions for mankind’s problems? How many of these hours do you use to facilitate your growth as a working individual or simple human being?

Ponder.
Most of the jobs especially the white collar ones require you to clock in at least 6-8hrs. 6-8hrs sitting on a paper full desk and a tiring office chair. Not to mention a slowly processing desktop with no anti-glare. So you will literally be punching the same numbers or words for hours, some times including overtime: till pay day and for pay day. And with most employers in it for the business R.O.I rather than brand development, you will continually earn peanuts to keep you on a leash.

Then you will undergo a series of fatigue and dreadful days doing the monotonous thing that you pride yourself in. And after a few months or years of living from pay check to paycheck, you will be like a well tuned robot. Wake up before dawn, report to your desk on time, get it done, take some meals, unwind with some entertainment, barely rest…dusk to dawn…repeat.

Do you find anything flawed with this?
You probably won’t. You are independent. You pay your bills. You enjoy a few luxuries beyond the basic needs. You look good in a tailored suit on the weekdays. You feel better in the trendiest dress on the weekends. Life is good. Okay, right?

But.

Are you creating? Are you developing? Are you upgrading? Are you building the nation if not the world or future generations? Are you growing?
When God ideally created man in His likeness, He meant that he be as creative as He himself is. He first enabled him by empowering him to name the rest of the creatures then gave him responsibility and rule over them. That is why having life is truly a gift from God to mankind and what we do with it is our gift back to God.

So essentially as a human being, you are to continually create or develop the earth and everything in it. Building the nation and developing the world is simply your calling here. That is why God has gifted each man with great talent and keeps revealing it to them that seek Him. And by the simple virtue of being created in the very likeness of the Creator himself, every human being is a creative in their unique capacity.

So where does the fault lie?

In being complacent. In being mediocre. In being lazy. In being materialistic. When you make earning a living supersede your need to live, thrive and upgrade the earth. When you remain stagnant in that same old position without creating or developing others or at least yourself. When not a single solution can be attributed to your existence. Because you simply exist : same old same old. Born-bred-educated-worked-married-birthed-retired-died… Repeat.

Ponder.
